Zak Kanwischer
Neurological Physiotherapist
Zak graduated with a Master of Physiotherapy from Swinburne University after completing a Bachelor of Biomedicine at the University of Melbourne, majoring in Human Anatomy and Physiology. His interest in neurological physiotherapy grew during a clinical placement at Klint, where he was drawn to the complexity of the field and the opportunity to work closely with clients to develop creative, goal-oriented solutions tailored to each individual.
Zak enjoys the challenge of adapting therapy to each client’s unique presentation and is particularly drawn to how it supports long-term improvement through neuroplasticity, functional training, and meaningful engagement. He has a keen interest in working with individuals with traumatic brain injury, cerebral palsy, and functional neurological disorders. He is committed to helping clients build independence, confidence, and quality of life through evidence-based, collaborative care.
Zak brings a broad range of experience to his practice, having worked as both a support worker for individuals with intellectual disabilities and as a sports trainer for a local football club. These roles have allowed him to work with individuals across a wide range of ages, abilities, and backgrounds – deepening his appreciation for personalised care and the importance of adapting his approach to meet each person’s unique needs.
Born in London, Zak has lived in Dublin, Vancouver, and now Melbourne, giving him a rich and varied perspective on life and people. Outside of work, he enjoys gardening, particularly working on his bonsai and indoor plant collection, as well as running and climbing. He also loves spending time with family and friends, especially over a good board or card game night!
