Neurological Physiotherapist

Gem graduated with a Bachelor with Honours degree in Physiotherapy from Manchester Metropolitan University in 2019. Since then, she has worked extensively in the NHS in the UK across the areas of emergency, neurology, ICU, respiratory and rehabilitation. Gem has specialised as a stroke specialist physiotherapist where she worked with both acute and rehabilitation stroke patients.
Gem has a depth of neurological physiotherapy experience in stroke, MS, Parkinsons disease, functional neurological disorder, hydrotherapy, upper limb rehab, spasticity management and other common neurological conditions. She has worked integrated and closely with other health care professionals in the multi-disciplinary team including occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, psychologists and consultants to ensure clients are treated holistically and everyone is working towards the same client-centred goals.
Gem has also completed further professional development including Bobath training and has specific expertise assessing and treating patients with respiratory conditions including breathing pattern disorders. Furthermore, she has experience in fatigue management which is essential for many neurological clients.
Gem takes an individualised client-centred approach and strives to assist in optimising her client’s quality of life and achieving both functional and meaningful outcomes. She is an advocate for treating holistically and is mindful of a client’s psychological well-being and the impact this can have. Gem is passionate about empowering her clients to facilitate their own recovery and understands the significance of her role in each of her client’s individual rehabilitation journeys. Because of this, she always endeavors to build strong, collaborative relationships with her clients and their support networks.
Outside of her clinical role, Gem enjoys weight training in the gym and going to the beach. She also loves to travel and is excited to explore more of Australia!
