After graduating from the Bachelor of Physiotherapy at La Trobe University, Ali went on to complete a broad range of rotations at major public hospitals in Melbourne, before setting her sights on working with people with neurological deficits. Ali loves the challenges that working with people with a wide range of neurological presentations bring. Ali is passionate about helping her clients to strive towards optimal recovery using a variety of treatment modalities. Ali has been working in neurological outpatient rehabilitation for over 10 years, including at Western Health and the Royal Talbot Rehabilitation Centre.
Ali is diligent in keeping her skills up to date, and thus has completed numerous post graduate courses, including but not limited to; gait and running retraining, Pilates for neurological clients, sensation retraining post stroke, student supervision, upper limb treatment, spasticity management, and vestibular rehabilitation. Ali successfully completed the Vestibular Rehabilitation competency based course at Australian Catholic University in 2017. Along the way Ali has mentored and guided other therapists, including during her previous role as a neurological physiotherapy tutor at La Trobe University. Ali has been involved in research looking at how to best support clients exercise preferences in rehabilitation, as well as sensation retraining post stroke.
Ali believes that working with clients in the community enables you to work towards truly meaningful goals. Whether that is your desire to be able to walk without aid, be able to tie up your own hair, return to your love of running or to your physically demanding job Ali will work tirelessly with you. Ali feels comfortable working with clients in multiple environments including at our centre, in their home, as well as at the community gym or hydrotherapy pool.
In her spare time Ali loves to spend time with her friends and family and is keen on outdoor activities including hiking, camping and skiing.
