Tisara has a Master of Physiotherapy practice from La Trobe University. She previously completed a Bachelor of Health Sciences and Master of Clinical Orthotics and Prosthetics, with experience at the Westmead Children’s Hospital Sydney and Orthotic Solutions Queensland. Tisara has worked at St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne in Transition care and Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation. Tisara’s interest in neurological conditions was sparked early on in her studies where she saw rapid progress in stroke clients with combined physiotherapy and music therapy. While volunteering in the Philippines with adults and children with neurological conditions she deepened her appreciation for the strong evidence base guiding practice in our health system in Australia.
Tisara combines her knowledge of orthotic and assistive devices with her experience in neurological physiotherapy to best maximise functional and neurological recovery in her clients. She has recently completed professional development courses through the APA in the areas of wheelchair prescription, Hemiparetic Shoulder Pain and Constraint Induced Movement Therapy.
Tisara is passionate about giving persons with disabilities the best opportunities for recreation and participation. Having a personal experience of Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis and wearing a spinal orthosis for 4 years during high school, she understands the importance of social participation for adults and children with disabilities.
She also likes to spend her leisure time socialising with friends and family, watching shows on Netflix and immersing herself in crafts such as sewing and painting. She can speak Sinhalese and conversational Italian.
