Erika qualified as an Occupational Therapist from La Trobe University in 2005 and has completed a post graduate diploma in clinical rehabilitation with a focus in neurological rehabilitation through Flinders University. She has a wide range of experience in a variety of public and private inpatient, outpatient and community settings focusing on neurological therapy for the past 8 years.

Erika has worked with a number of different diagnostic backgrounds, including: orthopaedic, geriatric, cardiac and pulmonary diseases as well as complex multiple diagnostic presentation. She developed a specialty within neurological and acquired brain injury community rehabilitation while working for a private clinic. Within this role, she was trained in constraint induced movement therapy at the Taub Therapy clinic in Birmingham, Alabama. She also assisted in developing the robotic upper limb rehabilitation protocols for severe neurological patients.

Erika further developed her neurological rehabilitation skills while working at large rehabilitation hospital where she implemented acquired brain injury management interventions based on the esteemed Monash University ABI training.

She is enthusiastic in providing evidence based clinical neurological rehabilitation services to clients and families in the community. She is passionate about ensuring clients build confidence in participating in meaningful activities in a safe and supportive environment.

In her personal life, Erika is a mother to a beautiful daughter. She volunteers in community based projects who support vulnerable individuals in Melbourne and overseas. She is a passionate dancer with roots in her South American heritage who enjoys music in all its forms. Erika has developed great empathy and compassion through working within the health field in different cultures. Being raised with strong values and respect for human rights, Erika has also developed advanced language and communication skills while working overseas and in Australia.
